Sail While you May

The sailors a-ship are coming ashore

With boisterous cries they lower the board

From deck to dock, then they will go

Where they know merry times

With good drink will flow

Oh men of the seas, a-ship you are free

From town to town you do not reap

But sow as you can and go as you wish

Either forgetting, or quiet and quick

In making your ways back to your ships

For many recall and many will tell

How they who ride waves cringe at love’s swell

While the girls left behind awake to white lies

Some to wait and some to sigh

Wasting their evenings at the seaside

Oh men of the seas, guard against the day

When a girl plays you as you have played

When wedding bells allow no escape

And you are anchored away from the waves.
